In Procida, which has been recognized as Capital of the Culture 2022, you can appreciate the ancient nautical tradition, discovering the values of sailors and the secrets of sailing through an interactive experience. The initiative is promoted by the Museum of the Sea and is a permanent exhibition of vintage boats to admire and discover navigating the waves. In an interview with the paper Corriere del Mezzogiorno, the skipper and instructor from Taranto Alessandro Maruccia says: "In Italy and abroad I have visited many beautiful maritime museums, but there was always something that left me with a little bit bitterness, which was the signs which command you not to touch and often not even to photograph. Despite the fact that they are right, I need to feel the materials in contact with the fingers, their scents, their shapes, the details of construction. Just looking at an object does not fully satisfy me". From Maruccia's mind, therefore, a multi-sensory experience was born, in collaboration with some supporters of the island of Procida, which is also the capital of maritime culture. The initiative was launched at a national level in a sort of twinning between Apulia and Campania that has animated the activities of the Sea Foundation and that will see the participation of several private shipowners who will welcome visitors on their boats, revealing their secrets and history.
