In Italy, the education sector has been the most infected with ransomware since last January. The striking data emerges from the analysis of Cisco Talos on the main cyber threats of 2022. Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Cisco has seen a steady increase in cyber attacks and is working with several entities to help them protect their systems and defend themselves against cyber attacks. It is in fact one of the first wars fought both on the battlefield and in cyberspace, with a very serious impact and repercussions. Interestingly, Cisco Systems has also detected a growing number of attacks that leverage old technologies, such as removable USB drives, which are used to distribute malware. These are carriers that most consumers do not think about or that they feel are safe, but that are actually still being used by cybercriminals.
