As is customary for Christmas shopping, toys come out on top. Home electronics including televisions, coffee makers, toasters, electric razors, vacuum cleaners, radios, and cameras come in at a close second. Personal care goods such as fragrances, aftershave, cosmetics, face-body creams, and makeup bags come in third position, after losing the silver medal last year. For their annual Christmas spending report, the National Consumers Union analyzed ISTAT data on retail sales. ICT and telephone products (mobile phones, cordless, computers, tablets, e-book readers, computer furniture, printers, electronic games, etc.) are in fourth place, followed by stationery items (books, calendars, pencils, diaries, postcards), and finally home furnishings and supplies (kitchen utensils, table glassware, porcelain, ceramics and pottery). Seventh place goes to apparel and furs, closely followed by footwear, leather products, and travel (suitcases, bags, wallets, belts). In ninth position photo-optics and musical instruments (cameras, binoculars, microscopes, telescopes). Other goods including jewelry, watches, frames, gold or silver items, flowers, and plants round out the top 10.
