The journal Frontiers has published the paper "Public earthquake communication in Italy using a multi-source social media platform: The INGVterremoti experience (2010-2022)". The work of the communication group of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) highlights what has been done to react more rapidly and effectively to the information demands of residents during a seismic event. Where seismic risk is high, as in Italy, effective communication during an earthquake is a critical concern. In reality, it is a useful tool for reducing danger, improving people's understanding of natural events, and raising their level of consciousness. It is also feasible to combat misinformation and fake news with quick, consistent, and scientifically reliable information. From the Emilian series of 2012 to the central Italy sequence that started with the earthquake of 24 August 2016 and is still continuing, the communication channels of the INGVterremoti platform have played a crucial role throughout. To raise locals' understanding of the seismic character of the terrain, INGVterremoti has published over a thousand reference pieces, including some permanent columns and monthly and yearly updates on seismicity.
