At the end of 2022, production, sales, and export volumes in the Italian ceramic tile sector were mostly confirmed from the previous year. Over the course of the year, there was a gradual decrease in international demand for Italian ceramics. Expenses have risen by more than a billion Euros alone for the thermal component, a result of rising energy prices. Some of these findings came to light during a Confindustria Ceramica convention. According to projections made by Italian advisory company PROMETEIA for 2022, the Italian ceramic tile sector will rake in over 458 million square meters in revenue, an increase of 0.7% from 2021. This will come from an increase in exports of roughly 0.3%, to the tune of 364 million square meters, and an increase in sales on the domestic market of over 2.6%, totaling more than 93 million square meters. While the Gulf region and Far East saw growth, Western Europe, the Balkans, and Latin America had steady sales, while the markets of Eastern Europe and North America saw declines. PROMETEIA predicts a 3% increase in production, bringing annual output to 448 million square meters. However, this preliminary estimate must be carefully evaluated in light of the significant variations in demand and manufacturing costs seen during the year.
