Within the following year, 30% of smartphone users globally will sign up for 5G service. In Italy, this percentage is at 25%. According to the research "5G: The Next Wave" by Ericsson, current 5G users spend an additional hour per week on metaverse-related services such as virtual world games and augmented reality. According to the research, 40% of Italian consumers claim to have a 5G-capable device but have not yet updated to a suitable subscription. 5% think to use 5G even though they have a 4G smartphone. Despite escalating expenses, 83% of existing 5G customers say they are unwilling to go back to 4G. In addition to analyzing the changes in customer behavior brought about by the inclusion of digital services in operators' plans, the research analyzes the degree of consumer satisfaction. Even though 96% of the population in Italy has access to 5G (taking into account also Frequency Division Duplex - Dynamic Spectrum Sharing technology), just 25% of people believe they are connected to the standard for more than 50% of the time. For the study, more than 49,000 customers from 37 nations, including Italy, were questioned.
