Monsignor Mario Delpini, the Archbishop of Milan, was presented with the new statuette of the figure of the Nativity Scene 2022 - that is, the floriculturist – as part of the initiative promoted annually at the national level in each diocese by Fondazione Symbola, Confartigianato and Coldiretti. The aim is to add figures to the representation of the Nativity who speak to us of the present but also of the future. This year, the floriculturist who faced the difficulties of the pandemic and the war was chosen to continue guaranteeing services and products to citizens despite the exponential increase in energy costs in the fields and greenhouses. Inserting this new figure, a symbol of the companies involved in the care and maintenance of our green heritage and biodiversity, is an unprecedented idea to talk about a plural and differentiated agriculture, which produces food and, together, intangible goods essential for the quality of life. Floriculture is a strategic sector of Made in Italy that involves over 20 thousand companies committed to guaranteeing beauty and improving the quality of life with the fight against climate change, air pollution and the devastation of the territory.
