The action of our armed forces conveys "an image of Italy reassuring, protagonist, interlocutor of great reliability in the world. This is also why Italy is proud of its armed forces and expresses once again its gratitude for what they do". These were the words of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, who from the Quirinale sent his best wishes for the upcoming holidays to the Italian military contingents engaged in international operations. The Head of State, who is still positive for COVID-19, stresses that, at a time when the war in Ukraine "has increased the difficulties and accentuated the fragilities already present, Italy continues to provide a great contribution of great importance within the international organizations, the EU, NATO and the UN", which represent the "pillars" of our foreign policy. Finally, Mattarella addresses "a thought to the fallen of the Armed Forces to once again express pain and gratitude for their sacrifice", hoping that "this memory will not be set aside". "To you, who in the most remote areas of the world even these days bear the name of the country, my heartfelt thanks. The Italians are close to you", says Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, addressing the military engaged in operational theaters.
