Italian farmhouses host around 300,000 New Year's Eve customers who want good cuisine and peace away from the city. This is the estimation made by Coldiretti. More and more young people are choosing to spend the longest night of the year in the peace and quiet of the countryside, enticed by the traditional gourmet specialties spread out on the tables of the filled farmhouses, rather than at the loud parties in the square or the late-night discos. An option shared by those who have opted to travel on vacation as well as those who have elected to remain at home, restricting themselves to a day excursion out of town, owing to the extensive distribution of farmhouses around the Peninsula. Italy has 25,400 agritourism establishments with 294 thousand beds, 532 thousand covers for refreshments, and approximately 2,000 educational agricultural activities for children.
