The Italian government's Ministry of Culture said yesterday that the country has submitted 13 applications for the European Union's "European Legacy Label" (2023 edition), a recognition program that aims to improve the European Union's shared cultural heritage every two years in order to foster a stronger feeling of unity among its citizens. A Ministerial Commission, which will be expressly established, will assess the best locations in terms of European significance, project quality, and operational-management competence by February 8, 2023. The European Commission must receive two applications by March 1, 2023. Only one site may thereafter be granted the prize for each participating Member State in the project. Each candidate submitted a dossier based on the forms attached to the request and developed by the European Commission, which supervises the project.
