"I am in favor of doing all possible to foster peace. We must recognize that the topic of peace cannot be achieved only by asserting it; we must work on it concretely, with indications from the parties on the ground, which do not exist at now, particularly from the Russian side. I am pleased that Zelensky expressed a wish to start to dialogue. I said that Italy is willing to guarantee this procedure. Therefore I aim to go to Kiev before the end of February, before the 24th anniversary, since it may be a useful day. The fundamental necessity remains, however, to support Ukraine. The primary requirement for forcing two parties in the field to begin talking is balance between the forces in the field. If Ukraine can now confront Russia, it is also due to the aid of the international community ". These are the statements of Giorgia Meloni, President of the Council, during the end-of-year news conference arranged by the National Council of the Order of Journalists and the Association of the Parliamentary Press.
