In 2022, the overall market capitalization of firms listed on Piazza Affari decreased by 131 billion to 626 billion (33.9% of Italy's GDP), compared to 757 billion at the end of 2021, which represented 43.1% of Italy's GDP. Milan's FTSE MIB index and the Stoxx 600 of Europe's largest businesses shed 12%, while Wall Street's S&P 500 index fell 19% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq plummeted 33%. There were 414 listed businesses on the Italian Stock Exchange marketplaces as of the end of December, compared to 407 at the same time previous year, as a consequence of 29 new entries (IPOs) and 22 delistings.
