It is a historical record for Made in Italy food exports on tables around the world during the holidays; the record is driven by wines, sparkling wines, grappa and liqueurs, panettone, cheese, cured meats but also caviar, which only for the Christmas and New Year period reaches 5.3 billion euros, an increase of 20% compared to last year. This is what emerges from the Coldiretti balance sheet on the basis of projections on Istat foreign trade data relating to the month of December 2022. The double figure also increases with the export value of all the most typical festive products, from spumante (+23%) driven by Prosecco (+26%), which a true symbol of Italian Christmas abroad, to panettone (+ 13%); Made in Italy caviar is also in demand, which marks a growth of +26% on international markets, and traditional filled pasta for the winter period, such as tortellini and cappelletti (+13%). The demand for Italian cheeses is also on the rise, showing an increase in the export value of 18%, as well as that of hams, cotechini and salami (+7%).
