The port of Ravenna closed 2022 with a record freight traffic volume of 27.4 million tons compared to 27.1 million in 2021, when the previous historical peak had been marked. In 2022 other historical records were recorded: the number of cruise passengers arrived at the cruise terminal, with a total of 193,000 passengers of which 153,000 in home port; the 80,000 semi-trailers moved at the Motorways of the Sea terminal and generated by the Ravenna-Brindisi-Catania maritime line. These results were obtained despite the tragic war in Ukraine, which almost wiped out traffic with Ukraine and Russia (about four million tons/year), without then considering the tensions due to energy prices that slowed down the entire national economy.
