Coffee waste is used into fertilizer. It takes place between Salerno and Benevento and is an all-Italian patent that has entered the implementation phase thanks to an agreement between two companies, Caffè Trucillo, a roasting company in Salerno managed for three generations by the homonymous family, and Agriges, based in the province of Benevento and one of the top four national companies in fertilizer and fertilizer production. The Italian region Campania may therefore claim one of the most inventive instances of environmental technology, cited as a model to emulate by Bocconi University. It is an example of a circular economy in action, with trash regaining value as it becomes a key part in agriculture, with silverskin becoming an ingredient of a soil improver, or a fertilizer that adds organic compounds to the soil. The importance of this all-Italian endeavor has been acknowledged by Europe. However, recycling does not stop there. Investigations into the use of silverskin in the cosmetics industry are underway, and the roasting firm has begun recycling jute bags that formerly held raw coffee.
