The number of Italians who have opted to take a vacation over the holidays, at the end of the year, and at the start of the new year has increased by 13% compared to the previous year. According to a COLDIRETTI/ IXE' poll issued on the occasion of the Epiphany vacations, almost 5 million Italians have opted to spend their time away from home, aided by ideal weather conditions. A very good balance with 87% of Italians deciding to remain on the Peninsula, where there is also a return of foreigners with over 5 million presences in the time covered and a clear reversal of the trend after the problems of the last two years. The typical Italian spends 575 euros per person, a 28% rise from the previous year. Over one-third is meant for the table in restaurants, pizzerias, trattorias, or farmhouses, but also for street food or food and wine specialties to take home as souvenirs from markets, festivals, and village festivals.
