Although global mobility is increasingly electric, important distinctions at the national level and with many unknowns related to the geopolitical scenario will tend to slow down the ecological transition of the automotive sector. At the global level, the transition to electric mobility is proceeding decisively, driven by new technologies and increasingly stringent and binding regulations on the environment. Also this year in Italy there is one of the highest percentages ever for alternative vehicles to gasoline or diesel (i.e. hybrids or full-electric), which together rise from 69% to 78%, leaving other advanced countries such as Germany (49%), China (55%) or South Korea (62%). However, the spread of environmentally friendly vehicles could be significantly slowed down by renewed consumer concerns about multiple aspects: first and foremost, affordability, battery life and vehicle charging times. Manufacturers and public institutions will need to join forces to address these complex challenges and stay on the path to zero-emission mobility that is both affordable and sustainable.
