The environmental conditions split Italy again, this time struggling with the lack of snow in the Apennines. If, on the one hand, Roberto Failoni, the councilor for Tourism and Sport of the Autonomous Province of Trento, and the other councilors of the Alpine regions have said in a joint statement that the Alps are in ideal conditions for skiability and winter tourism, on the other hand, there is concern about the lack of snow in central Italy. The problem of at least 50 million in damages to activities in the Apennine region was at the heart of a meeting organized by Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè, who promised solutions within two to three weeks. In the Alpine regions, however, as indicated in the councilors' joint letter, the temperatures recorded above the seasonal average did not affect the skiability conditions of the ski areas due to the snowfall in mid-December and the effort done by the cableway firms to prepare the slopes. "Skiability is totally assured in the Italian Alps, according to Councilor Roberto Failoni, due to recent heavy snowfalls and a dip in temperature that facilitates slope preparation".
