From March 1, the entrance ticket to visit the Gallery of Statues and Paintings, in the Uffizi Museum in Florence, will rise from the current 20 euros to 25 euros. The management of the Museum explains that the decision was taken unanimously by the board of directors of the Uffizi Galleries “to cope with the increase in costs in the energy and construction sector”. The increase of 5 euros will only concern the single entry ticket in the high season period, from March 1 to November 30, that is the most purchased by foreign tourists. However, there is a possibility of saving for early bird visitors: those who enter the museum between 8.15 and 8.55 will pay only 19 euros. Low season prices and entrance tickets to Pitti and Boboli, also part of the museum complex, remain unchanged. The Uffizi informs that the increase has also been approved by the regional directorate Museums of Tuscany and the general directorate Museums of the Ministry of Culture. Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano's comment is positive: "I think it is right – he said – we must adapt to European standards. On average, large European sites cost more, with the exception of Great Britain where there is a particular situation. I think the increase also responds to a question so to say ‘moral’ – added the minister – for an American family that spends 10-20 thousand euros to come to Italy, paying twenty euros a ticket is something affordable".
