"Having made the appropriate assessments on the regulatory framework, I am also ready to evaluate the hypothesis of excluding, for example from the commissions that come from the Ministry of Culture, those companies where cases of this type have been detected". This is what the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano says during a hearing on January 12 in the Chamber of Deputies, just as these days the “Italian MeToo” movement returns to the center of the public debate, with dozens of actresses who have publicly denounced the abuses and violence suffered during their profession. “The protection of women is an issue that I care about and I will act firmly and decisively,” he said. The minister's reflections came in response to a question from the deputy Elisabetta Piccolotti (Alleanza Verdi and Sinistra Italiana), who comments: "As far as we are concerned, we welcome the declared willingness to evaluate our proposals on the subject and in the coming days we will send them to Minister Sangiuliano. On violence against women we must in fact build a broad front that engages all institutions in a decisive cultural battle against masculinity and patriarchy that still today limit freedom and offend the dignity of Italian women in every sector".
