The ten works that will compete for the David of Donatello award - Cecilia Mangini 2023 for best documentary have been selected. These are the titles chosen by the documentary committee: "The circle" by Sophie Chiarello; "Franco Zeffirelli, rebel conformist" by Anselma Dell'Olio; "Gigi the Law" by Alessandro Comodin; "In viaggio" (On the road) by Gianfranco Rosi; "Kill me if you can" by Alex Infascelli; "Last stop before Chocolate Mountain" by Susanna Della Sala; "A steady job" by Mattia Colombo and Gianluca Matarrese; "Wake me up at midnight" by Francesco Patierno; "The Matchmaker" by Benedetta Argentieri; and "The crown shyness" by Valentina Bertani. The Academy Jury will vote a first time to identify the five nominees for the award and, subsequently, will decree the winner of the David for Best Documentary, which since 2021 has been named after the memory of Cecilia Mangini, tireless investigator of reality and unforgettable pioneer and outsider of Italian cinema.
