The Orchestra and Choir of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, under the direction of Antonio Pappano, have been honored with yet another prestigious recording award. The jury of the International Classical Music Awards, which yesterday announced the winners of the 26 awards for the 2023 edition, awarded in the "Choral Music" category the recording for the Warner Classics label of Rossini's Messa di Gloria conducted by the English-Italian maestro with the Choir directed by Piero Monti and an exceptional cast consisting of Eleonora Buratto, Teresa Iervolino, Lawrence Brownlee, Michael Spyres, and Carlo Lepore. The 19 judges from Europe's leading magazines, websites, and radio stations selected Rossini's recording for the following reasons: "Rossini's Messa di Gloria is imbued with a radiant operatic quality by an inspired Antonio Pappano and the outstanding choir and orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. This masterwork is completed by very talented soloists and a well-balanced recording." The Grammy-winning CD contains three Italian voices - soprano Eleonora Buratto, mezzo-soprano Teresa Iervolino, and bass Carlo Lepore - together with two American voices - tenor Lawrence Brownlee and baritone Michael Spyres.
