Italy continues to pay more for energy than its competitors, despite government interventions for electricity. Carlo Sangalli, President of Confcommercio, raised the alarm: “With respect to France, it is more than double, because there it was decided to apply a brake on the increase in tariffs. The same thing happened in Spain and Germany.” Italian tertiary companies, such as hotels, are heavily disadvantaged, with differences in annual spending of almost 100,000 euros for a medium-sized hotel, 127% more than France; the same situation also occurs for all other commercial activities. “One wonders how our tourism companies can compete with France, which remains the number one destination for arrivals in the world. Even compared to Spain and Germany, Italy pays higher bills between 30 and 80%," added Sangalli, who emphasizes: "On the subject of energy, more courage is needed, energy tax credits are strengthened and the terms for their use are extended in September".
