The increases in spending to buy food and drinks cost 13 billion euros to Italian families in 2022, due to the avalanche effect of energy increases and dependence from abroad, in a context of increased costs due to the war in Ukraine that makes the entire supply chain suffer, from the fields to the tables. This is what emerges from Coldiretti's analysis of ISTAT data relating to inflation in 2022 compared to the previous year. In 2022, Italians spent 2.6 billion euros more to put bread and pasta on the table, but vegetables also cost 2.3 billion euros more, while for meat there was an additional outlay of 2.2 billion euros compared to last year. In fourth place are milk, cheese and eggs with 1.8 billion euros of additional disbursement, preceding fish, which increased by an even billion euros, and fruit (+0.9 billion euros). Oil, butter and fats (+0.8 billion euros), which however represent the category with the highest prices in 2022, follow together with soft drinks (from coffee to mineral waters to juices), with +0.8 billion euros. Sugar, jams, honey, chocolate and sweets (+0.4 billion euros), and salt, condiments and baby food (+0.2 billion euros) closed the ranking of increases.
