In four out of ten Italian families (40%), grandparents are the ones who save the household budget put at risk by inflation that affects spending, an already accentuated consequence compared to the difficult years of the pandemic from the explosion of energy costs due to the war in Ukraine. This is what emerges from an online survey by Coldiretti: among Italians who benefit from the presence of a pensioner in the home, almost two thirds (63%) declare that grandparents are a determining factor to contribute precisely to family income, while 22% look to them as a valid help to take care of their children, perhaps to take them to school and follow them even once they return home. This possibility gives confidence to the figures of the grandparents and allows them to save on after-school clubs and babysitters. However, there is also a reduced percentage of 15% - adds Coldiretti - that finds help from grandparents at the working level, especially for those who have a business, from agriculture to crafts, up to trade, and can thus benefit from the experience accumulated by those who are now retired.
