Abitare Co., a brokerage and real estate services provider, found that the average cost per square meter for the purchase of a new or renovated property in a highly desirable area rose by 2.8% in 2022, compared to the previous year. But how much do homes in the major ski areas usually cost to build from scratch or remodel? Abitare Co. reports that Cortina d'Ampezzo once again tops the list of the most expensive mountain destinations to purchase a brand-new or recently-built home in, with an average price of 13,000 euros per square meter and peaks reaching up to 19,000 euros per square meter. The average cost of living in Courmayeur, a ski resort at the top of Valle d'Aosta that combines the quality of the ski slopes with the liveliness of the nightlife, is 10,300 euros per square meter. However, villas, luxury chalets, and apartments (rare) in new residential buildings overlooking Mont Blanc can cost upwards of 12 thousand euros per square meter. Madonna di Campiglio is in the national top five, with 9,500 euros per square meter, followed by Livigno, with 9,350 euros per square meter, and Selva di Val Gardena, with 7,950 euros per square meter.
