In 2023, voters will go to the polls in four different areas to choose new representatives for their respective regional councils and councils. The date is known for three of them. Lombardy and Lazio will vote on February 12 and 13, while Friuli-Venezia Giulia will vote on April 2 and 3. Election day in Molise, on the other hand, has not been set but will still take place by mid-June. The president, who is guaranteed a seat in the council, is directly elected by the people in each of the four voting zones. However, there is no ballot, unlike in some other places like Tuscany. While these electoral systems range significantly from one another, they all follow a similar framework when it comes to the election of council members. In its most basic form, it is a proportional system. The departing junta in Lombardy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Molise is to the political center-right, whereas the incumbent administration in Lazio is to the political center-left.
