In the 2022 report of the SIAE, the Italian copyright collecting agency, which is dominated by Maneskin for the most part, there is a rating in which the prodigious Roman band is not first. It is that of the most listened Italian songs in foreign countries in 2021. In first position we have Domenico Modugno's "Nel blu dipinto di blu," which is the "unofficial" anthem of Italy, and in second place we have Andrea Bocelli's "Con te partirò." When considering this list, it's hard to avoid thinking of "old school" songs like "Tu vuo fa l'americano" by Renato Carosone, "Caruso" by Lucio Dalla, and "Self-control" by Raf.
