What are Italy's sunniest cities? Syracuse has 346.83 hours of sunlight each month, which is a few decimals more than Catania's 347.8 hours. On both sides of the Strait between Sicily and Calabria, Messina and Reggio Calabria follow with 344.52 hours. The surprising fifth rank of Genoa demonstrates that Liguria, with its moderate climate, is comparable to many southern regions, with monthly averages of 344.03 hours of sunlight. Cagliari, Taranto, and Palermo round up the remaining positions in the top ten. Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige, is the second city in northern Italy on the list, with an average monthly sunlight of 337.87 hours, ahead of several southern locales. This proves that being in the north does not always imply having less sun. Rome ranks 14th with 335.48 hours of sunlight, over two hours ahead of Naples in 15th position. The ranking was determined by calculating the average monthly sunlight hours in each city from 2009 to 2021, as reported on the World Weather Online website. The 50 major cities in Italy were examined.
