The International Monetary Fund's new projections for Italy's GDP growth are more optimistic than they were a few months ago. Despite a slowing in growth relative to 2022, the IMF, under the direction of Kristalina Georgieva, increased its global growth forecast for 2023 to 2.9%. The Italian GDP is expected to increase by 0.6% in 2023, which is 0.8 percentage points greater than the October projections. Germany also outperformed expectations, with 0.1% growth owing to a revision of (+0.4 points), before accelerating to 1.4% growth in 2024. On the other side, the forecast for the United Kingdom worsens, placing it at the bottom of the G7 with a projected 0.6% decline in GDP in 2023. According to the IMF's revised World Economic Outlook, "interest rate rises by central banks and the crisis in Ukraine continue to impact on economic growth.
