The Quirinal Treaty, or the agreement between Paris and Rome launched by the Gentiloni government, has entered into force. The treaty had been frozen in the years of the Conte government and then signed by the Draghi government, but after the friction between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron due to the issue of migrants, from today it will serve to strengthen relations between the two countries. Meloni is also scheduled to visit the Elysée. In view of the forthcoming European Council, the extended relations with France could bring benefits to Italy both on the economic front and on the defense of the European industrial fabric in response to recent American legislation. In this regard, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella affirms: "The Treaty that enters into force today is animated by a common vision of the future, which will allow France and Italy not only to strengthen even more the bonds of friendship that unite them, but to stimulate a further consolidation of the process of integration of our continent and a strengthening of our common institutions". With the entry into force of the Quirinal Treaty, France and Italy are even more united, in Europe and in the world, to defend and promote the fundamental values of our societies: peace, freedom, human rights, sustainable economic and social progress, respecting the natural environment of the planet.
