Climate change drives the digital revolution in the countryside with over six in 10 (64%) Italian farms adopting at least one 4.0 agriculture solution from drones to robots, from sensors to GPS, from satellite platforms to the “Internet of Things” to combat climate change, save the environment, increase productivity and contain costs. This is what emerges from an analysis of Coldiretti disseminated on the Fieragricola TECH in Verona, at the Palaexpo - stand C4 where the 4.0 garden was inaugurated with the participation of the President of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini. According to the latest report by the Smart Agrifood Observatory - underlines Coldiretti - the value of the agritech market has grown over five years by 1500%, going from 100 million euros to 1.6 billion euros. Among the solutions most adopted by innovative companies is the computerization of the company through management software (adopted in 40% of cases), monitoring and control systems of agricultural machines and equipment (23%), mapping and cultivation and land services (19%), monitoring systems of crops and land (14%) and decision support systems (12%). The agricultural area involved in the new wave of technological and digital innovations is almost one million hectares nationwide, equal to 6% of the total area, but - continues Coldiretti - there is great potential for growth, especially with the use of Big Data Analytics and the so-called "Internet of Things".
