It is an international debut for Fieragricola TECH, the Verona exhibition on innovation in agriculture, with a focus on digitalization and precision agriculture, renewable energy, smart irrigation, biostimulants, ongoing until tomorrow. Among the visitors and buyers from abroad, from Algeria came Lyes Barchiche, General Manager of Ascot and importer of technologies for agriculture in the North African country. "In Algeria about 38% of the employed work in agriculture – explained Barchiche, who is an agronomist and engineer – and there is a great focus on innovation, especially for those productive sectors such as horticulture, strongly oriented to export". Among the 60 stands present at the first edition of Fieragricola TECH, Barchiche focused on solutions for precision irrigation and rational water management and on drones as soil monitoring tools, which are very useful in a country that must deal with sometimes limited water availability and that has a significant extension of agricultural plots. Barchiche said that "technological solutions and the Italian offer are synonymous with high quality and versatility and this is extremely useful for us since in Algeria we can count on a new class of young farmers very attentive to innovation as a tool to increase productivity, sustainability and quality".
