The "forever" has a fixed stop in Italy. Wedding tourism rewards the Peninsula, which hosted over 11,000 foreign weddings in 2022, with destination weddings that are in line with pre-pandemic figures. The figures come from the Destination Weddings in Italy Observatory, which was undertaken by Centro Studi Turistici and supported by the Ministry of Tourism. ENIT and Convention Bureau Italia presented the data today in Rome. Based on the length of stay of couples and guests at the ceremony (3.3 nights on average), the Observatory estimates 619 thousand arrivals and over 2 million tourist presences associated with destination weddings in 2022, generating an estimated turnover of 599 million euros, an increase of approximately 11% over the levels estimated for 2019, the last year before Covid. In 2022, the proportion of couples who decided to marry with a symbolic ritual increased, reaching 54.1% of the total. In 2023, it is anticipated that there will be almost 1,000 more events than in the previous year, a percentage growth of 9.5%. Tuscany, with its stunning scenery and artists, is the most desired Italian area by foreign couples, with 21% of the total: Lombardy, Campania, Puglia, Sicily, and Lazio follow in order of frequency. Foreign couples who choose to celebrate their wedding in Italy were mostly from the United States (29.2%), but over 57% of events were created by married couples living in European nations.
