After two years of forced break, Trieste is finally about to return to the festive climate of Carnival and is ready to host the 29th edition of the parade that will award the coveted Palio di Trieste held by the Roiano district. The 2023 edition will be full of initiatives and fun. The central and most awaited moment of the event will be the usual parade, which will go through the streets of the city center and offer the public new surprises and emotions. The Carnival will officially start tomorrow and this time there will be no ceremony of the keys to the City: in the last edition of 2020, in fact, which was interrupted just on the eve of the parade, the keys were held by the "King and Queen of the Carnival" of the district of Cittavecchia, in office since then. With the new entry of that of San Giacomo, there will be seven districts this year competing for the "Palio di Trieste 2023" and trying to take it away to Roiano, the current holder and last winner of the Palio. Trieste’s Carnival has always been a celebration for children too. In fact, it will be celebrated in the nursery schools, kindergartens and recreation centers of the Municipality of Trieste with the participation of all enrolled children of various ages according to a large program that will end on Friday with the Recreation centers' Parade.
