Milan fashion week (21-27 February) is worth 70 million euros. This is what the Confcommercio research office communicated based on estimates of the influx of foreign visitors during the recent fashion week. Milan and the metropolitan area have the greatest impact (52.6 million), followed by the provinces of Como (7.4 million), Monza Brianza (5.5 million), Varese (4 million), and Lodi (0.5 million). The costliest expenses are for lodging/accommodation (42.6 million) and catering (20 million). There is talk of 15% more foreign visitors compared to last year, as well as an increase in Italian visitors (+ 11%). The average increase in arrivals is 13%, amounting to nearly 103 thousand arrivals (57 thousand Italians and more than45 thousand foreigners). In Milan, room occupancy increased by 12% over the previous year. Average spending increased by 7% to 1,539 euros in 2022. Milan Fashion Week is an international and fundamental event for Milan, which has always had a very close relationship with fashion: a vast sector, as well as an economic and artisan power recognized all over the world, and a symbol of Italian know-how that encompasses many operators in the sector.
