Only 1 in 3 Italians cares about their retirement from a financial point of view. The remaining 2/3 confess that they are not preparing at all, despite the widespread awareness that their future pension will not be able to meet their needs (as 44% of respondents pointed out), or will only succeed in a barely sufficient way (according to 40% of citizens). This is what emerges from an investigation by Altroconsumo - the largest independent consumer organization in Italy - to understand how savers behave in the face of the pension problem. Italians are equally aware that their pensions may not be as high: only 20% think they will receive a check higher than 75% of their last salary: almost 30% even think they will not have a pension, while another 20% believe that their pension will eventually be less than half of what they now receive in the paycheck. Sixty percent also expect that retirement will be their only source of income once they stop working. Italians therefore expect a low pension, without, moreover, being able to rely on any other financial income, but this is not enough to motivate people to invest in retirement.
