For Italy, the third day of the European Indoor Athletics Championships was a memorable one. Yesterday in Istanbul, the men's 60-meter final gave the blue colors a magnificent double. Samuele Ceccarelli's time of 6'48" earned him the gold medal. Behind him was Marcell Jacobs, who closed in 6'50 while wearing a silver necklace. Sweden's Henrik Larsson completed the podium (6 "53). A memorable afternoon for the class of 2000, whose dream journey began with the 6.47 semi-final time, the best European time of the year and fifth all-time, just six hundredths of a second from the continental record set by Jacobs himself. The latter gave in once more to the Tuscan sprinter for very little, who replicated the triumph attained two weeks prior at the Italian championships in Ancona.
