Separate waste collection in our country has steadily increased from 2016 to the present. Plastic recovery, which is one of the most common but also one of the most harmful to the environment, is also increasing. Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of Environment and Energy Security, indicated some data on plastic collection and circular industry in our country at the end of 2022. The plastic packaging waste recycling rate reached 56%, up 14% from 2016. A percentage that has enabled Italy to surpass the 55% target imposed by the European Union well ahead of the deadline set by Brussels, namely 2030.
