The average expense to maintain a car in 2023 amounts to about 4,219 euros, up +4.8% compared to 10 years ago, when for the same items the expense stood at 4,025 euros. The numbers come from Federcarrozzieri, according to which the voice that most affects drivers is that related to fuels. At current prices, and assuming 2.5 full per month per car, supplies will cost about 2,784 euros per year, compared to 2,622 euros spent on average in 2013 (+6.2%). Spare parts, tyres and lubricants are now spent 275 euros (21.2% more than 10 years ago), while for ordinary maintenance and repairs, spending rises from 337 euros in 2013 to the current 448.5 euros (+33%). More limited is the increase in tolls and parking meters, with annual spending rising from 78.6 euros per family in 2013 to the current 87 euros (+10.7%). Automobile taxes are also growing: from an average of 228 euros per year per car in 2013 to 240 euros in 2023. The car overhaul, for example, cost 10 years ago 45 euros if performed in DMV, 66.88 euros at an authorized workshop: today it costs 54.95 euros at the offices of the DMV, 79.02 euros in the workshop, with an increase of +22.1% and +18.1% respectively. The car insurance is a separate speech: if the average cost of policies has registered a constant decrease over the years (the average rate amounted to 533 euros according to the data of IVASS Institute in 2013), today insurance prices have reversed the route, and according to recent surveys of specialized sites mark in 2023 an increase of about +6% compared to last year, with the average price that in 2023 should stand at 385 euros per policy.
