Since the day of the shipwreck, the prefecture of Crotone has provided assistance to the survivors and families of the victims. This is what the Interior Ministry clarified in a note yesterday. The Viminale explained that the necessary assistance was provided to local administrations for the purpose of interring the bodies or transporting them to other Italian locations or abroad, following the necessary and complex activity conducted by the municipality of Cutro for the preparation of death certificates and mortuary passports. In addition, coverage with funds from the Ministry of the Interior was assured for funeral honors and immediate assistance-related costs. In accordance with the Calabria Region, he then arranged hotel accommodations for approximately eighty relatives of the victims. In a first phase, the survivors were housed in the CARA of Crotone, and later in the hotel facilities where their relatives were staying. In addition, representatives of the Department of Civil Liberties and Immigration were dispatched to Crotone, where they were joined by representatives of UNHCR and UCOI, who conducted individual interviews with the victims' relatives.
