The IPCC's Sixth Summary Assessment Report highlights the timely emission reductions required to meet the intermediate climate targets: reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 43% by 2030 and 60% by 2035 to reach net zero by mid-century and preventing global temperatures from exceeding the dangerous 1.5°C tipping point. The report, however, points out that current policies fall short of these goals, despite the fact that many cost-effective solutions are available. WWF Italy urges governments to take the report's warnings seriously and implement its recommendations as soon as possible in order to mitigate the effects of the climate crisis. The report urges leaders to reduce emissions across all sectors as soon as possible, to increase efforts to strengthen resilience to extreme weather events, and to protect and restore nature.
