The Game Developers Conference, the video game industry's most important international event where professionals from around the world gather to exchange ideas and plan for the future of the industry, is back. GDC 2023, based in San Francisco, USA, begins today and will run through March 24. For five days, panels, roundtables, workshops and special events will address the main themes of game development: from design to graphics; from programming to marketing; from audio to production, and there will be no shortage of business meetings between industry players. The event takes a snapshot of the present, but also looks at the future of the video game industry globally, starting with data. According to GDC's State of the Game Industry Report 2023, the PC continues to lead game development today, with 65 percent of developers committed to developers on this platform, and will continue to do so in the future, with 57 percent. Among the top issues being developed are those related to accessibility, diversity, and inclusion. 38% of developers say their current games implement accessibility measures for people with sensory, motor, or other disabilities, and 59% say they focus their creative efforts on D&I.
