Click day in overbooking with applications for entry for non-EU workers who have far exceeded the availability, confirming the labor shortage that affects a variety of economic sectors. Yesterday, it was possible to submit applications for the 82,705 transitional planning entries authorized by the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers. The quotas for seasonal work, which are expected primarily in the rural areas, as well as the hotel tourism sector, have been set at 44,000 units (up from 42,000 last year). Even if there is no territorial subdivision, the regions where the requests for entry are concentrated should be those that require a high level of labor commitment, such as Trentino for the apple harvest or Veneto for the collection of vegetables and strawberries, which is now at the gates due to the effect of the hot winter; but also Friuli Venezia Giulia for the preparation of vine seedlings for new plants, the so-called “barbatelle” in Italian, Lazio for vegetables and Campania for tobacco cultivation and the tomato sector for industrial processing.
