"Giorgia Meloni returned from Brussels with a fistful of flies". Elly Schlein doesn't beat around the bush and brings together the parliamentary groups of the Democratic Party in the Chamber. Today a discussion on the new political phase is expected, while tomorrow the issue of group leaders will be tackled, with Francesco Boccia in pole position for the Senate and Chiara Braga in the Chamber, both members of the majority that won the congress. "Strong thanks to Letta, Serracchiani and Malpezzi, who have held up in a long and complex transitional phase," she said, opening the meeting. "They have done a commendable job in very difficult conditions: squeezed between defeat in the last political elections and the wait for the congress. With the issue of arrangements settled, the new secretary will be able to set the tone for the new Dem line and an opposition that promises to be combative. "On the issue of migration Meloni should have called for a European Mare nostrum instead of declaring war on NGOs," is the thought reiterated by Schlein before parliamentarians. In the same hours in which the Prime Minister was engaged in the work of the EU Council, the Pd leader was in the middle of the Socialist pre-summit: "There was a warm welcome from our prime ministers, from the European commissioners, from the leaders of the other socialist parties," she recounts, "And I met with our delegation in the European Parliament. Among the issues addressed there were "migration, implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), reform of the Stability Pact with the work done by Paolo Gentiloni whom I met". "On the PNRR, the government is behind and Italy cannot afford to fail, the Pd will preside with great attention," assures the newly appointed secretary, who on the issue of rights goes on the attack on the center-right: "The government plants an ideological flag a day and meanwhile launches an unprecedented attack on the rights of boys and girls," as on the pressure to stop the transcriptions of the children of gender inclusive couples. "We have been in the squares these days with our mayors and we will also work here in Parliament." On the minimum wage, on the other hand, "we have registered the Prime Minister's opposition but we will insist, involving the other oppositions." As for the RAI, finally, Schlein warns, "It seems to me that the government is trying to get its hands on it a little too much. We will be vigilant".
