Good second take, not without controversial aftermath of what happened yesterday, the Chamber in this morning's new attempt approves one after another the budget variance, casus belli of yesterday's heated afternoon with the lack of absolute majority, and soon after also the Economic and Financial Document. This time no hiccups: 221 votes are in favor of the variance, after yesterday the majority had not reached the 201 votes needed, stopping at 195 due to numerous defections. This is a problem not political but numerical, for which the groups apologized this morning ("we owe it to the Italians and to the President of the Council," says Fratelli d'Italia Chief Whip Tommaso Foti), without, however, giving up going on the counterattack. So much for being absent for May 1st bridge, thundered Riccardo Molinari of Lega: "What happened yesterday is the result of the iconoclastic fury that led to the cutting of parliamentarians" which in the Chamber was not matched by a cut in committees and top roles that would often force deputies not to be present in the chamber at the time of the vote.
