Since yesterday, an additional step has been taken toward the reconstruction of the areas of Italy affected by the 2009 and 2016 earthquakes. Next Appennino, the State incentive program for post-earthquake social and economic revival, financed for over 600 million euros, has passed to the implementation phase. The first rankings were approved, releasing 277 million euros to support 1,280 projects in earthquake-affected areas of Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche, and Umbria, generating 434 million in investments. The 277 million are divided as follows: Abruzzo 67.7 million, Lazio 22.5 million, Marche 161 million, and Umbria 25.6 million. Next Appennino's goal is to support businesses and relaunch the economy of the devastated areas' territories, to encourage innovation in the small and medium entrepreneurial fabric, to introduce important resources into culture, tourism, and the third sector, and to finance technological transformation platforms to make environmental supply chains more sustainable and up to date.
