ASTM, a company from Tortona (Alessandria), will modernize the stations and manage the elevators of the New York subway to allow disabled access to one of the most famous and busy infrastructures in the United States, which transports 1.69 billion passengers annually. For the first time, the ASTM group, which has been active in the construction sector in the United States for many years, has been awarded a 25-year concession for the modernization of 13 subway stations and the maintenance of "34 works for vertical transport," i.e. mega elevators. The Italian firm defeated giants such as the American Plenary Group and the Spanish Ohl, securing a significant portion of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority's PPP (Public Private Participation) concession. As part of this 5.2 billion-dollar megaproject to provide disabled access to the subway, the company led by CEO Umberto Tosoni has won a 450-million-dollar concession, which will be funded partly by its own funds and partly through the issuance of a 330-million-dollar special green bond.
