"The Eight Mountains" directed by Felix Van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch wins the David di Donatello 2023 for Best Film. The film starring Alessandro Borghi and Luca Marinelli also won Best Non-Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Sound. Also triumphing were Marco Bellocchio's Esterno Notte (“External Night”, Best Director, Best Lead Actor, Best Makeup, and Best Editing), and Roberto Andò's La stranezza (“The strangeness”, Best Original Screenplay, Best Producer, Best Costumes, and Best Set Design). Best Lead Actress is Barbara Ronchi for 'September' by Giulia Louise Steigerwalt. Best Supporting Actor is Francesco di Leva for 'Nostalgia' by Mario Martone and Best Supporting Actress is Emanuela Fanelli for "Drought". Also awarded was Elodie for "Bullets (I Eat Your Heart)", music by Joan Thiele, Elisa Toffoli, Emanuele Triglia, lyrics and performance by Elodie, Joan Thiele. The song accompanied Pippo Mezzapesa's "I Eat Your Heart". Also among the awardees were producer Marina Cicogna with the David for Lifetime Achievement, the David Viewer Award to "The Big Day" with Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo, the David for Best Directorial Debut to Giulia Louise Steigerwalt for "September", and the David for Best Short Film to 'The Dependent Variables' by Lorenzo Tardella. Also, the David Youth Award to Michele Placido's 'The Shadow of Caravaggio' and the David for Best International Film to Steven Spielberg's 'The Fabelmans'.
