Territorial disparities will widen again in 2022. The North represents the distribution with the highest share of people expressing high life satisfaction (49.3%), while the South has the lowest (42.4%). These are some of the findings from an ISTAT report. According to the statistical institute, there is a growth among residents in the north-western part alone (from 48.8% to 49.4%) compared to 2021, which contrasts with a similar contraction in southern Italy (from 42.3% to 40.5%) but not in the Islands. The region with the highest level of satisfaction is Trentino-Alto Adige (61.8%), while the region with the lowest level is Campania (35.7%), where there is the most significant decline from 2021. Umbria, on the other hand, has the highest rate of growth in satisfaction (49.9%).
